3 minute brushing timer FAQ

Should I brush for 2 minutes or 3 minutes?

Two minutes is a common baseline. Three minutes gives you more time for a careful routine, especially if you tend to rush. If your dentist recommends a specific time, follow that guidance.

Can kids use this brushing timer?

Yes, with supervision. For younger kids, a 2 minute timer may be easier. This 3 minute version is best when a child can follow section prompts without brushing too hard.

Does this work for manual and electric toothbrushes?

Yes. The prompts work with either type of brush. With an electric toothbrush, use light pressure and move slowly so the brush head can clean each area.

Why are the prompts 45 seconds each?

Four 45 second sections add up to 3 minutes and make it easier to give each main mouth quadrant equal attention.
